Equal Skies on Tour

Advocacy manager Harvey Matthewson was delighted to attend the Joint ICAO/ACI/IATA Symposium on Accessibility in International Civil Aviation earlier this week.

Airlines, regulators and members of the disability community gathered for this landmark event at the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) HQ in Montreal, Canada. The symposium lasted two days and featured a mix of panel sessions, networking opportunities and open debate.

During the course of the event, disability employment into the sector was raised as well as the importance of separating the terms disability and accessibility in order to engage the wider public with the issue. After all, everybody is only temporarily mobile.

Speaking of the event Harvey said ‘The Joint ICAO/ACI/IATA Symposium on Accessibility in International Civil Aviation has sent a clear message that collaboration between all stakeholders is key. I know that this meeting of minds has marked the start of a positive journey.’
