Equal Skies are on the hunt for passionate and forward thinking professionals to join our steering group as a volunteer.

As part of the steering group you will have the opportunity to build new projects, design strategy and support the day to day running of our fantastic project.

Our ideal candidate has a positive approach to problem solving, thrives on collaboration and has a genuine drive to create positive change. Experience in communication, business development or lived experience of disability is preferred.

Steering Group Member Role Description

Time commitment: 5 days per year for steering group members and 7 days per year for the deputy chair/chair. Occasional training and additional meetings and sector events. This role is hybrid.

About Us:

The Equal Skies Charter is a project run by Aerobility. It is helping to build a world where people with a disability have equal access to the benefits and opportunities provided by aviation and aerospace industries. By changing the way the sector sees disability and employment of disabled people, we will open aviation, aerospace, and the skies to all.

As a steering group member you will play a vital role in helping to drive awareness of the Equal Skies Charter and to support the delivery of our mission.

What skills do you need to have?

  • Be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own

  • Have good listening, verbal and written communication skills

  • Be able to exercise good independent judgement

  • Be willing to learn about and follow the Equal Skies Charters aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection

  • Have a genuine passion for our mission of removing barriers in the Aviation and Aerospace sector

  • Bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, broadening the diversity of thinking of the Equal Skies steering group

  • Lived disability experience and/or a background in fundraising, communications or business development is preferred
